چکیده
CHEST I 86 I 2 I AUGUST, 1984 251 T he patient was a 14-year-old girl admitted for evaluation of recurrent congestive heart failure. She had limited exercise tolerance and, although able to participate in sports, was fatigued easily. She also reported that her right leg was longer than her left and that her right shoe size was one halfsize larger than the left. On physical examination, the above findings were confirmed, and an increased girth to the right thigh was noted as well. The admission frontal roentgenogram (Fig 1) shows a right-sided aortic arch and increased vascularity, while the lateral view (Fig 2) demonstrates some focal encroachment on the postenor tracheal wall.

Left-Sided Patent Ductus Arteriosus
W HEN there is a right-sided aortic arch, persistence of a left-sided ductus arteriosus can readily be demonstrated by angiocardiography. This is important because in some types of eyanotic congenital heart disease, such as in the tetralogy of Fallot, anl artificial aortico-pulmonary (Blalock-Taussig' or Pott S2 shunt) is often created in order to alleviate the distress produced by anoxia. Two ...
متن کاملA Case of Right Sided Aortic Arch Combined with Atrial Septal Defect
Right sided aortic arch is an uncommon congenital anomaly. It can be classified into three types, depending on the left aortic arch's degenerating pattern and the branching pattern of the great vessels. It can be associated with major congenital heart disease, depending on the type of right sided aortic arch. We report a case of an 18-years-old female who has right sided aortic arch with atrial...

An adult female with Turner syndrome presented with severe lymphedema and chylous ascites. In addition, the patient was found to have a right-sided aortic arch and a left-sided inferior vena cava. Although lymphedema is common in infants with Turner syndrome is previously unreported. In this patient, a peritoneo-venous shunt appeared to be beneficial.

The present report deals with the findings from a total of 116 children or young adults with a right aortic arch. In all these cases the aortic arch was specifically studied at necropsy or could be located from angiocardiography. The diagnosis of the associated congenital cardiovascular lesions was established by cardiac catheterization, angiocardiography, operation, or post-mortem examination....
متن کاملA case of acute traumatic aortic injury of a right-sided aortic arch with rupture of an aberrant left subclavian artery.
Acute traumatic aortic injury is a potentially lethal condition with most patients die at the scene of the accidents. Rapid deceleration due to motor vehicle accidents is the commonest mechanism of injury. These injuries can be successfully repaired in the few patients who survive the initial trauma if proper diagnosis and rapid treatment are provided. The occurrence of acute traumatic aortic i...
